PORTAL ACADEMY

Five phrases for better meeting participation

You do not need to wait until every word is perfect. Prepare phrases to ask for clarification, contribute a view, and confirm your next task.

Ask for clarification

If a point is unclear, ask about that specific part. You can request an example rather than a complete repetition.

Could you clarify what you mean by that?

Could you give us an example?

Share your view

State your view and explain why. If you disagree, recognize the useful point before explaining your concern.

From my perspective, we need more time to test this.

I see the benefit, but I’m concerned about the deadline.

Confirm the next step

Before the meeting ends, check who will do what and by when.

Just to confirm, I’ll send the report by Thursday.

Try it yourself

Role-play a short project meeting. Use a clarification question, an opinion with a reason, and a sentence confirming the next step.

Check your understanding
